JIS G 3506:2004 specifies high carbon steel wire rods (hereafter referred to as wire rods) to be used for the manufacture of the hard drawn steel wires, oil tempered steel wire, hard drawn steel wires for prestressed concrete, galvanized steel wire strands, wire ropes, etc. It is not applicable to wire rods for piano wire rods.
