This British Standard gives recommendations for the installation, maintenance, inspection, thorough examination and safe use of fixed and mobile vehicle lifts.

It is applicable to vehicle lifts consisting of one or more lifting units, designed to raise vehicles totally for the purpose of examining and working on or under the vehicles whilst in a raised position on horizontal ground.

This document does not apply to vehicle lifts where the carrying device can be tilted, or vehicle lifts intended to lift persons.
