The mattresses and pillows are specified in BS 1818, BS 1819 and BS 1899. The standard deals with materials, manufacture, pattern, finish and identification; values are prescribed for threads per inch, yarn counts, percentage of foreign matter, weight per square yard, breaking load and colour fastness.
