This standard describes diatomaceous earth (DE), perlite, and other disposable filter materials used to precoat filters for water supply service. This standard can be referenced in specifications for evaluating precoat filter media and can be used as a guide for testing the physical and chemical properties of filtering materials used to precoat filters. The stipulations of this standard apply when this document has been referenced, and then only to precoat filter media for water supply service.
