Specifies requirements for sterile, single-use, urethral catheters intended to be introduced through the urethra into the urinary bladder. Classification, definitions, size range, materials, design and construction, performance requirements, packaging and marking requirements are laid down. Appendices include methods for determining gauge size of the catheter, balloon performance, flow rate and cytotoxicity.
