Describes the various types of device specified in AS 1716 and offers guidance on considerations critical to their correct selection, use and maintenance. Considerations especially important to correct selection are also reproduced in a flowchart which describes various hazardous atmospheres and recommends appropriate devices. Advice on the range of protection factors afforded by different types of device is included and the importance of proper facial fit is stressed.
