This specification covers a corrosion- and heat-resistant nickel alloy in the form of sheet, strip, and plate up to 1.000 inch (25.4 mm) in nominal thickness.

AMS5599J is the result of a Five-Year Review and update of the specification. The revision adds reporting information (3.1.2), updates surface finish (3.2.1), adds pyrometry and continuous heat treatment (3.3), adds strain rate requirements (3.4.1.3), prohibits unauthorized exceptions (3.4.1.4, 3.8, 4.4.1, 5.1.1, 8.3), and allows prior revisions (8.4).

These products have been used typically for parts requiring corrosion and oxidation resistance up to 2000 °F (1095 °C), particularly where such parts may require welding during fabrication, but usage is not limited to such applications.
