BS PAS 8850:2020

This PAS specifies performance requirements for heated tobacco products and tobacco heating devices. This PAS covers:

• tobacco;• additives and materials used in the manufacture of heated tobacco product;• conformity of electronic components to relevant safety standards;• manufacturing and product traceability;• heated tobacco product stability;• chemical analyses of tobacco attributes; and• heated tobacco product emissions and their consistency to verify the absence of combustion and to enable heated tobacco products to be differentiated from combustible tobacco products such as cigarettes.

This PAS establishes quantitative criteria which differentiate heated tobacco products from combustible tobacco products.
