The point of the needle, materials, workmanship, mechanical properties of the needle tube, requirements for the wing, mechanical strength and integrity of the unions and colour coding are specified. Appendices include methods for determining dead space, leakage, flow rate, sterility and pyrogenicity. Packaging and labelling requirements are also given.
