Describes the procedures to be used to clean and prepare a raw wool sample for measurement of mean fibre diameter, using either a constant pressure airflow instrument, or a sonic fineness instrument. On lambswool and heavily medullated wools, the method may give values which differ from those given by the projection microscope method.
