Fasteners covered by this specification are intended for structural attachments in aerospace vehicles and associated accessories whenever access to one side of the joint is not adequate for the installation of conventional structural fasteners.

It is not intended that these fasteners be employed in applications requiring removal.

These fasteners are intended for applications where shear loads are the primary design consideration and any tensile loads are of secondary concern.

This specification established the requirements for self-locking blind fasteners which are capable of being installed when only one side of an assembly is accessible.

Classification - This specification covers blind fasteners of the following classes:

Class 1. General Purpose (usable up to 450 degrees F)

Class 2. High Temperature (usable up to 1200 degrees F)

Class 3. Light Weight (usable up to 250 degrees F)

Class 4. Titanium (usable up to 250 degrees F)
