This test method covers the determination of bulk specific gravity (G_mb) of compacted bituminous mixtures.This method can be used with samples that contain open or interconnecting voids or absorb more than 2.0 percent water by volume, or both.Note 1 - Water absorption by volume is determined using T 166; this specification does not contain a direct determination of the water absorption by volume.The bulk specific gravity of the compacted bituminous mixtures may be used in calculating the unit mass of the mixture.
