This report presents clinical evidence regarding the safety and efficacy of reuse of hemodialyzer blood tubing and describes procedures for reprocessing blood tubing. Part 1 reviews the history and development of reuse in hemodialysis and discusses clinical experience relative to the reuse of blood tubing. Part 2 gives guidelines for reprocessing blood tubing that derive from the AAMI recommended practice, Reuse of Hemodialyzers (ANSI/AAMI RD47).
